Junior Celtics Come to Town

The Maine Celtics paid a visit to the Paramount Centre this past week to take on the Raptors 905 squad. It was another day game, which typically attracts bus loads of very energetic fans from the areas schools, filling the stands to capacity. The Celtics are a team that prominently features two up-and-coming Canadian players: Marial Shayok from Ottawa (#11) and Mfiondu Kabengele (#28) from Burlington. Both were active in the game, but Shayok was perhaps the Celtics most valuable player in the game, with 22 points and 9 rebounds. It would not be a surprise to see Shayok promoted to Boston some time this season or next - he's playing that well. The game was close until the very end, but the Celtics put up a defensive wall in the latter part of the 4th quarter to preserve a 126-117 win. Thanks again to Safia Hersi from Raptors 905 for helping to facilitate the photos here, and the young fans who made the event so energetic.
